Biography

Erin T. Mariano, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine

and general orthopaedics. She is committed to providing patient-centered care focused on

helping individuals return to the activities they enjoy, whether that means competing in athletics,

staying active, or maintaining independence in daily life.

Dr. Mariano earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida State

University before completing medical school at the Florida State University College of Medicine.

She completed both her internship and orthopaedic surgery residency training at Louisiana

State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport before pursuing fellowship training in

sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham.

Drawn to orthopaedics by her desire to help patients improve function and quality of life, Dr.

Mariano values the relationships she builds with her patients and believes that listening carefully

to their goals is essential to achieving successful outcomes. She takes an individualized

approach to care, working collaboratively with patients to determine the treatment plan that best

aligns with their needs and lifestyle.

Her clinical interests include sports medicine and general orthopaedics, with expertise in

treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions affecting patients of all ages. Her most

common procedures include fracture fixation, total knee arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction, carpal

tunnel release, trigger finger release, knee arthroscopy, meniscal repair and partial

meniscectomy, and shoulder arthroscopy, including labral repairs, debridement procedures, and

rotator cuff repair.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Mariano has held numerous leadership and educational

roles, including serving as Associate Professor and preceptor for third- and fourth-year medical

students at Burrell College of Medicine. She has also served as Chair, Vice Chair, and Interim

Chair of the Department of Surgery at Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital. Her dedication to

sports medicine extends beyond the clinic through her experience as a team physician for

several high school athletic programs and collegiate athletes.

Dr. Mariano remains actively engaged in service both locally and internationally, participating in

medical mission trips through Operation International, where she has performed total knee

arthroplasty procedures in Bhutan and Kenya. She is a member of the American Academy of

Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Florida Medical Association, and the American Orthopaedic Society

for Sports Medicine.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mariano enjoys a wide variety of pursuits, including equestrian sports,

running, weight training, hunting, competitive axe throwing, and participating in Jeep club

events. A classically trained pianist and lifelong Florida State Seminoles fan, she also enjoys

attending concerts and music festivals and spending time with her three Holland Lop

rabbits—Barley, Hops, and Hefeweizen.
