Biography
Erin T. Mariano, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine
and general orthopaedics. She is committed to providing patient-centered care focused on
helping individuals return to the activities they enjoy, whether that means competing in athletics,
staying active, or maintaining independence in daily life.
Dr. Mariano earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida State
University before completing medical school at the Florida State University College of Medicine.
She completed both her internship and orthopaedic surgery residency training at Louisiana
State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport before pursuing fellowship training in
sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham.
Drawn to orthopaedics by her desire to help patients improve function and quality of life, Dr.
Mariano values the relationships she builds with her patients and believes that listening carefully
to their goals is essential to achieving successful outcomes. She takes an individualized
approach to care, working collaboratively with patients to determine the treatment plan that best
aligns with their needs and lifestyle.
Her clinical interests include sports medicine and general orthopaedics, with expertise in
treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions affecting patients of all ages. Her most
common procedures include fracture fixation, total knee arthroplasty, ACL reconstruction, carpal
tunnel release, trigger finger release, knee arthroscopy, meniscal repair and partial
meniscectomy, and shoulder arthroscopy, including labral repairs, debridement procedures, and
rotator cuff repair.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Mariano has held numerous leadership and educational
roles, including serving as Associate Professor and preceptor for third- and fourth-year medical
students at Burrell College of Medicine. She has also served as Chair, Vice Chair, and Interim
Chair of the Department of Surgery at Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital. Her dedication to
sports medicine extends beyond the clinic through her experience as a team physician for
several high school athletic programs and collegiate athletes.
Dr. Mariano remains actively engaged in service both locally and internationally, participating in
medical mission trips through Operation International, where she has performed total knee
arthroplasty procedures in Bhutan and Kenya. She is a member of the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Florida Medical Association, and the American Orthopaedic Society
for Sports Medicine.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mariano enjoys a wide variety of pursuits, including equestrian sports,
running, weight training, hunting, competitive axe throwing, and participating in Jeep club
events. A classically trained pianist and lifelong Florida State Seminoles fan, she also enjoys
attending concerts and music festivals and spending time with her three Holland Lop
rabbits—Barley, Hops, and Hefeweizen.
