Spring is in the Air: Local ways to Stay Active Outside

Being active and getting regular exercise is important for people of all ages, so why not get out there and find an outdoor adventure!  As spring time nears and the weather is getting consistently warmer, it’s the perfect opportunity to experience all that North Central Florida has to offer.

Want to stretch your legs?

Take a hike to see some amazing wildlife and beautiful scenery. 

  • San Felasco Park- has beautiful trails of all distances for any person. It also offers trail for biking 
  • O’leno State Park- is a spectacular park to spend the day with the family.
  • La Chua Trail in Payne’s Prairie- offers a 3 mile round trip trail filled with alligators, birds, horses, and buffalo to view on any given day. If you have never done this trail, it is a must do!
  • Hawthorne Trail- offers 17 miles of biking trails

 Looking for a day on the water? 

There are so many places to take out a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard in the North Central Florida area.

  • Silver Springs- offers canoe and kayak trips to spend a day on the water to view alligators, fish, and even monkeys!
  • Santa Fe River- has so many springs that can offer a day of swimming, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding for the whole family. You can spend the whole day on the river or just a couple hours.
  • Ocala National Forest- offers everything from springs to nature trails. It has an abundance of wild life to view ranging from birds to bears.

Looking for Sports?

In the North Central Florida area there are clubs to join. North Central Florida has a club for whatever you are looking to do.

  • Golf- there are golf courses throughout the North Central Florida Area that have clubs for all age ranges that you can join.
  • Organized sports- there are clubs for soccer, football, baseball, softball, and volleyball.
  • Tennis and pickle ball- these are very popular sports for people in the Lady Lake area, but can be very interesting and fun for anyone.

There is an activity for whatever may be of interest to you, from walking to boating and fishing. But most importantly, get outside, soak up some sunshine and get active!
