TOI’s Dr. John Stevenson on WCJB TV20 Medical Spotlight – Chronic Back Pain

by TOI Admin June 5, 2012

It is estimated that up to 85 percent of all people will deal with lower back pain at some point in their lives, according to a recent article in the New England Journal of Medicine. Up to 30 percent of all low back symptoms are sacroiliac joint in origin, but the diagnosis of a problem with the sacroiliac joint is frequently overlooked because low back pain symptoms have many causes as well as hip joint symptoms.

Doctors are coming up with new answers to eliminate lower back pain, including The Orthopaedic Institute’s John Stevenson, M.D. TOI’s Neurosurgeon explains the new iFuse procedure, a minimally-invasive surgical procedure performed on patients with sacroiliac joint pain on the WCJB TV20 Medical Spotlight series.
