TOI constructs new medical complex in Ocala

by admin January 18, 2011

Facility estimated to be completed in July with several improvements

In August of 2008, The Orthopaedic Institute (TOI) opened the doors of its first Ocala clinic, a modest facility in Deerwood Park. Two short years later and after the addition of three orthopaedic surgeons, the group outgrew the 6,500-square-foot building and began shopping for a new home.

The new facility will be located at 1710 SE 16th Avenue, only steps away from the current location. The 16,275-square-foot building, originally the Ocala Podiatry Center with Dr. Michael Rotstein, is more than double the size of the current facility and provides excellent visibility along 17th Street. In addition to the much-needed space, the new building will offer countless improvements for patients.

"Completion of our new medical office complex is a major step in our plan to further invest in the community and provide more comprehensive services to patients," said Eric Brill, CEO of TOI.

Construction is well underway and has made considerable progress since breaking ground on November 9, 2010. The interior is being completely reconstructed, and the exterior, which will be modeled after TOI’s Gainesville, Fla., location, will be nearly unrecognizable.

The new building will have 18 exam rooms compared to the current 10. The hand therapy department will have its own space, apart from physical therapy, while the physical therapy department will have twice the amount of room. In-house diagnostic testing will be available to patients, including digital X-ray and MRI. In addition, each physician and staff will have a designated clinic and work area.

Patients will be able to easily locate the new medical complex because of its prime real estate, and they need not worry about parking, as the private parking lot provides ample space. Once they arrive, they will also enjoy a spacious, comfortable and bright waiting room, complete with Starbucks coffee.

Overall, TOI is very excited to be taking significant steps to enhance its presence, better its services to the community and provide a more conducive work environment for its staff.
